36 weeks!

i haven't done a pregnancy post in a while...

i am 36 weeks (well, technically, i'm 36 weeks and 4 days, but who's counting??) and i am so ready to be done!  i had about 3 weeks or so of feeling "good."  my legs were giving me a lot of problems all during the second trimester.  i actually ended up at the hospital twice because i was having severe pain in my calves and they did sonograms to check for blood clots.  thank goodness, no blood clots, but unfortunately i have developed vericose veins behind my knees (they are thinking it's from my job) and that is what has been causing the pain.  boo!!  i honestly never realized those could cause so much pain.  i just thought they were unsightly, not horribly painful, too!  thank goodness, the throbbing subsided around 31 weeks and hasn't returned.  i am hoping the vericose veins go away after the baby is born.

overall, this pregnancy has been a lot more difficult for me than the first.  i am ready to meet this little girl!

i don't think i have put her name on the blog yet...we decided on delaney elizabeth.  her middle name is the same as my middle name.  we wanted to go with that because oakley's middle name is the same as brian's middle name and we thought it seemed fit.  we also thought delaney was a really pretty name, both for a little girl and an adult.  also, we like "laney".  so there it is!

i have been craving so many sweets with this baby, it's insane.  i am really going to have to put myself in check after she gets here...i don't think i have had so many helpings of ice cream in my life!  which would explain the extra 8 pounds i've put on this pregnancy compared to the first.  ha!

oakley is getting very excited to meet delaney.  he talks about what he will do with her all the time...share his toys (we'll see about that!), read her books, and help put her lotion on. :)  we are really looking forward to seeing these two interact!

i had my 36 week appointment yesterday and my doctor said i am 1 cm dialated and halfway thinned out (50% effaced).  she said delaney could come at any point!  i have been having contractions, but nothing regular...and a lot of pressure.  we'll see when she decides to make her debut!  right now, we are scrambling to get the house completely in order by the end of this weekend.  busy busy!  we have a sonogram on monday and my doctor will check me again, so we'll see if there is any progress.  if my doctor notices the same thing with delaney as she did with oakley at this sonogram (at 37 weeks, oakley's abdomen measured small- 4th percentile, which led my dr to believe my body wasn't providing the nutrients he needed, so we induced 3 days later), we'll be induced next week...we will keep you posted!

and now...i will leave you with a few pictures of our monkey.  climbing trees is a new obsession of ours.
