road trip...again

well, we made it to ohio after two looooonnnng days of driving.  it took us a total of 17 hours.  we drove 7 hours the first day and stayed with my grandparents in central georgia.  i'm so glad we were there because my grandparents had a huge branch fall from one of their 100ft or taller pine trees.  the branch was gigantic, probably at least 40 feet.  we did not want my grandpa to have to deal with it, so after dinner, we tackled the beast.  brian cut it in 8 or 9 smaller branches and we (including oakley, the awesome little helper!) drug them across the yard and into the woods on the other side of the house.  it really wasn't a big deal, i'm just glad my grandpa didn't have to take care of it...i'm sure it would have taken him all day and he would have hurt himself in the process.  after that, we had a really nice time talking with my grandparents and they got to spend a little time with oakley, too.

we left the next morning around 745 and arrived in ohio around 630.  what a long day!  oakley did wonderfully in the car.  he's such a trooper when it comes to traveling...we really are lucky.  i think the highlight of his day was when we stopped at a truckstop and he watched all the huge semi trucks get gas.  one of the truckers even honked at oakley as he left the gas station.  oakley thought it was pretty cool.  we were all so happy to be out of the car when we arrived at nana and papa's house!

brian got his grandpa's john deer mower to work yesterday after working on it for a bit.  he was so looking forward to taking oakley for a ride.  oakley was a little nervous at first, but by the end of his "seshal ride on mower" (special ride on the mower), he wanted more.  i think brian really enjoyed doing this with oakley.  it was sweet to see his excitement for oakley.  i think it brought back memories of brian on his grandpa's lap years ago.
not so sure about this

ok, maybe it's a little fun

"more peas!"  (please)

brian and his mom got up in the attic today and pulled out some of brian's old toys.  they found a race track (along with a huge bucket of cars), a little table with chairs for art projects, a big steel tractor with a trailer, and a wooden puzzle.  it was fun seeing oakley dig into all the "new" toys.  brian and nana had fun playing with them, too. :)

a random one of o gassing up his mower
a couple cute things oakley has said recently:

riding in the car from fl to oh, holding his stuffed giraffe, giving it a drink from his cup, "want some graffe?  you yike it?"
as oakley and i passed brian when we were going back and forth dragging branches, "dood job daddy, dood job."  (good job)
