sensory day and sesame street

our church does a "sensory day" once a year for preschoolers.  they had a ton of different sensory activities for the kids to enjoy.  baby pools filled with rice (one of o's favorite stations), an ice sculpture, a camping area, making playdough station, paint-a-shirt station, pop the bubble wrap station, and a maze made out of boxes.  it was super fun!  we were all exhausted when it was over.

stepping in:  sand, dried beans, jello (ick!), and water

ice sculpture:  they had basters to suck up water at the bottom, then let it out at the top to watch it flow down.

here are o and daddy painting his shirt.  it says "oakley" and has two stamped fish on it
making binoculars in the camping station

hammering golf tees into styrofoam
fishing in the camping station
bubble wrap!

maze:  i think he spent most of his time here
we had a great morning exploring all the senses God gave us!  what a great activity.  we are really enjoying our new church!

the next weekend, last minute, kelly and i decided we wanted to take greyson and oakley to see sesame street live.  we found super cheap tickets and couldn't pass up the opportunity.  we were a little nervous, not really knowing if they would sit through it, but decided it was worth the "risk."  they both ended up sitting through the entire show without any fussing.  we were so excited!  they did great and even got up to dance a few times.  oakley was obsessed with "jenny," the only human in the show.  he also kept asking me if he could "touch them."  he was so sad when it was over and even cried most of the way to the car, telling me he wanted to "see jenny again."  it was a great experience and he still talks about going.  i found it a little surprising that he was so into it because we've probably only seen the tv show 3 or 4 times.  now, he asks to watch it when he gets home from daycare.   :)

dancing

besides jenny, he said cookie was his favorite.  now, when eating crackers at snack, he'll sometimes say, "i'm cooookie mon-ser!" in a deep, monster-ish voice

this is pretty much what he looked like the whole time.  haha!  i love that he loved it!

well, that pretty much sums up january.  it was a month full of fun things.  we are so blessed!
