sporting events

this family is a sports-loving family.  college football is a favorite, however, we will pretty much watch any sport played.  maybe we are a little competitive??  not sure, but brian got me hooked.  i can't actually sit and watch a football game from start to finish, now that we have a child, but i still love watching it when i can.  oakley and his daddy love to watch golf on sunday afternoons (oakley will usually sit on brian's lap and watch for 20 minutes or so) and sometimes they'll watch a little baseball or football before bed.  i love watching my boys talk about the sport and i'll hear, "mommy!  2 balls, one strike!"  it's so sweet to see brian passing his knowledge of sports on to our son.  really, he knows so much about almost any sport.  it's crazy.

brian's dad received four tickets to the cincinnati reds game a couple weeks ago.  they were box seats, so all the food was free.  it was pretty much awesome.  great seats and better-than-normal baseball food.  (seriously, they were served pasta salad, fruit salad and other yummy stuff.)  we talked about taking oakley, but i decided to stay home with him since we had just spent 10 hours in the car and the game was 1 1/2 hours away.  that, and i didn't want to fight a two year old to sit still (yeah right!) for 4 hours.  oakley and i had a great night together and brian and his mom, dad, and sister had a blast at the game.

we took oakley to his first football game friday night.  we went to the troy highschool game with brian's dad.  it was so much fun!  oakley was excited to see the "fooball hemets!" (football helmets)  interesting thing to notice, i thought.  he loved it when they kicked the ball and got super excited everytime the crowd cheered and clapped.  he mimicked the crowd whenever they cheered.  i think the band was the most exciting to him--he loves music.  he cried when they left the field. :(  troy lost, but we had so much fun!
waiting for our tickets...on daddy's shoulders

watching the band perform
playing with my sunglasses case and bag.  putting a coin in and out and shaking it around.  he did this for about 45 minutes. :)

on another note, we are leaving ohio and headed to kansas city in about 36 hours.  i have been packing up all of our stuff while brian prepares the cars for the drive.  we are going to miss hanging out with brian's family (oakley will especially miss jenna, grant, john and si), but we look forward to the coming months of the newness of brian's job and our new home/community.  it will be like christmas opening all of our boxes.  i can't wait.  oakley keeps telling me, "mommy, i want to go to my new house."  4 more days, buddy.  next time i post, i'll probably be in our new home!!

this is what oakley is up to while i pack:
