to "gramma's" house we go

my sister, amanda, and her sweet girl came down for the weekend, so we got to spend some much-needed time with them.  they stayed at my mom's house.  we stayed at our house, because, quite honestly, we are still feeling that i-don't-want-to-stay-at-anyone-else's-house-for-a-while feeling.  we had dinner at my mom's friday night and waited for amanda and maddie to arrive.  brian and oakley mowed before dinner...a favorite activity for both of them!  melissa was there, too...with her feet up and baby kicking her like crazy!  we hung out until late and came home to sleep in our own bed.  then, saturday, brian hung around the house so the owner could come over to fix the air conditioner while oakley and i went back up to hang out with the girls.

ok, there's a story behind this one.  those gym shorts used to belong to my (and my sisters') baby dolls.  (the elastic is all stretched out...it's hilarious!)  the headband was also ours when we were little, as were all the toys behind oakley.  we have a picture of maddie in these shorts and plan to get one of lawson in them, too!  seems crazy, but these kids put them on by themselves, so we had to capture it. :)

 oakley and maddie were connected at the hip the whole time.  it was precious.  maddie would take oakley's hand and say, "let's go on a little walk, oakley."  oakley would say, "oh-tay maddie."  it was so sweet.  maddie helped oakley whenever he needed it and oakley followed maddie/did whatever maddie did all day:  catching bugs and frogs. throwing rocks. chasing butterflies. sidewalk chalk.  they are little buddies.  it's neat to see them actually playing together, as i think oakley was too young before.

these three pictures really capture the mood of these silly kids.  they were hilarious together.  so much fun!

i got some good, quality girl time with my mom and sisters.  it was awesome.  the kids napped for a while on saturday, so we just hung out and caught up.  i love days like that.  amanda and melissa went to the taylor swift concert (melissa won tickets on the radio a long while ago...and decided to take amanda since i went to cirque du soleil (sp??) with her in the spring.)  i'm really not a huge taylor swift fan, anyway, so i went out with kelly for a girls' night on saturday night :)  it was a great weekend of quality time with my favorite people!
