today was the only day this week we didn't have any outings planned, so oakley and i decided it was a good day to have a jammie day. oakley was so excited that he didn't have to get dressed...i never knew he disliked the "getting dressed" part of our day. :) he kept saying excitedly, "we stay in our jammies...all day?!?" it's the little things, right? i didn't take pictures of our day because, honestly, i was having too much fun to stop and take pictures.
we had so much fun just hanging out, spending really good quality time together. we read...and read...and read books this morning under a sheet that was tucked into his bed and also into the drawers of his dresser. we were covered up by his comforter just reading. some books we read over and over. others just once. but oakley kept bringing me book after book. i loved it.
we also had a mound of laundry to do. like a seven-load mound. yuck. but oakley was a great helper with the soap (his favorite part!), pushing the wet clothes into the dryer, and best of all, laying under the pile of warm, clean clothes. he made a mundane job much more enjoyable!
we talked about the letter of the week (D) and he painted a "D" and made "dots" for "D" on another paper. he was a total mess, but it was great fun. we did puzzles and watched his favorite alphabet video. we had a special smoothie for snack and then daddy came home from work. we went on a family walk just before it got dark (so early now!). what an awesome day!
i don't feel like it's necessary to make a list of all of my thankfuls today because i would be repeating myself from what's posted above. i do, however, want to add a few non-related items:
our military members- past, present, and future. i'm so thankful for their sacrifice and also for their families' sacrifices.
i am thankful for that mound of laundry we did today because that means my family is clothed.
i'm also thankful that we own a washer and dryer.
and i'm thankful for tonight's simple dinner that was on the menu.
