May 2012

what a busy, busy month!  i seriously can't believe it's june.  since i've been feeling better, the days seem to go by faster...they were dragging when i felt so sick.  thank goodness the sickness is pretty much gone!  it only took 5 months. :)

we had a lot going on in may.  i went to florida by myself to help melissa and matt transition into their jobs.  i was lucky to get to stay at their house with lawson for a week.  it was fun!  i missed brian and oakley terribly (it was the longest i had ever been away from oakley), but it was special time with my sister and her family.  lawson is getting so big.  rolling over.  standing.  and getting stronger to sit up.  and standing.  he loved standing up, with my help, of course!  it was a nice change of pace for me, taking care of a baby who is immobile and takes three naps a day.  i sure did miss oakley's activity and funny sense of humor, as tired as he makes me. :)  i left the camera with brian, so no pictures of my cute nephew this time.

while i was in florida, brian was at home with oakley.  his mom and grandma came to visit to ease the daycare situation.  we usually have oakley at mrs. kim's from 7:30-3:30 and if nana didn't stay with oakley, he would have been there an extra two hours every day.  it was sweet, quality time for oakley, nana and grandma goodin.  i think it helped distract him from mommy being gone, too.  he was spoiled to the core, as any grandchild should be when his nana and grandma goodin are in town. :)  they had a blast!

(i wanted to post a few pics from their time together, but i can't find where we saved them.  i'll keep looking)

the next weekend, we went to ohio to visit brian's family.  brian's cousin, kelley (and her husband brian), had twins the week before, so we were able to meet aiden and bentley.  so sweet!  i always forget how little newborns are.  we had a great time just spending time together.  we didn't do much, which was really nice.  we played outside a lot because the weather was very summer-like...90!  sandbox, mower rides, sprinkler fun, bubbles.  it was a great visit.  brian's mom also took me shopping to get a few new maternity items and some clothes for the baby girl.  shopping for baby girls is so much more fun than shopping for boys!

oakley looks so big here!  loves his papa.

loves his nana, too.

we had the opportunity to play with kristin, jenna and grant this weekend.  it was neat to see oakley and jenna pick up right where they left off after spending a lot of time together last summer.  they have a very special bond.  it will be fun to watch them grow up together.

i love this one!

oakley stayed with my mom from wednesday night-friday afternoon because brian and i both had to work and mrs. kim was on vacation.  we missed our little monkey so much!  brian thought we would have a family night last night, so we went to the t-bones baseball game.  it was a blast.  oakley lasted 6 innings, which we were pleased with.  to be honest, i was ready for bed by then! :)  he was obsessed with "sizzler", the mascot.  i think it's a bull.  he called it a cow and was screaming so loud when he first noticed it, i thought something was wrong.  it was hilarious.  everyone around us was laughing at him.  he kept yelling, "MOOOOOOO" at it, too.  we finally went on a hunt for sizzler around the fifth inning and oakley got a picture with him.  he really wanted to give him a high-five, too.  it was cute to see how into it he was.  there were skydivers who landed in center field before the game started and oakley thought that was pretty neat, too.  he was more into the game than i imagined.  he kept talking about how fast the ball was thrown and asked so many questions, wanting to learn about the game.  while explaining the game to him, i reminded myself just how boring the game is. :)  it was fun to spend a night as a family and we so appreciate brian's initiative to plan things like this.  as brian would say, we're "makin' memories, baby."

sizzle!!  look at that smile.
