after taking brian to the columbus airport (he flew to florida for an interview...that's for another post), diane, oakley and i went to easton. this place reminds me of zona rosa in kansas city, but waaaay fancier and bigger. we had so much fun! there was an area with model trains going around on a few tracks. one of the trains was a thomas train and oakley thought that was pretty cool. we stood there for probably 15 minutes watching them go around and around. fun boy stuff!
then we went to a really cool restaurant, northstar cafe. it was a-mazing. it's an all natural, whole foods place (i'm really a sucker for these places, even though it's a little pricier. the food is worth it!). i had a thai chicken salad that was to die for (diane actually ordered one, too) and oakley had a cheese quesadilla--his favorite--and a really yummy fruit bowl. we really enjoyed lunch.

after lunch, oakley let loose at the little spray park area. now, oakley is pretty "coldblooded" like his mommy, and the weather was gorgeous for outdoor shopping, but a little chilly for waterplay (at least for me...i would have been freezing). i thought oakley would freeze because he always did at the spray park in florida, even when it was 99 degrees. he hung in there for a while, then would take a break to soak up some warm sun, then back to the water. he had so much fun running around. it took him a while to get in, but after i spent some time swinging him into the spraying water, he went for it full force. i think he enjoyed the freedom. and running. he seems to do that a lot now. the kid never stops.

to top off a perfect day, nana treated us with some gourmet cookies. they were fabulous. i may or may not have eaten 2 on the way home. :) oakley had a fun colorful "kid" cookie. then he passed out for the hour and a half ride home. what a great day! we sure did miss daddy, though.
