it felt strange driving down 435 as we made our way into kansas city. we felt a sense of comfort. i think it's because we really feel like kansas city is home to us. it felt good to be back. we stayed with our friends, nathan and kelly sunday night because they live in town and it would be easy for brian to get to his interview monday morning. oakley had fun playing with his buddy, greyson. (i watched greyson after his mommy went back to work, so o and grey go way back) ;-) (we took pictures of the boys, but for some reason, they weren't on my memory card. i'll have to do some research)
while brian was in his interview, we played with marti, spencer, and parker--my friends from up north. it was a short visit, but we had a blast! we are excited to have more playdates with them soon.
we then stayed out at my mom's for a few days. she lives on a farm, so oakley loves going out there and letting loose. he's such a boy. he rode the tractor, four-wheeler, and mower (actually fell asleep on the mower while he "helped" brian mow. so funny!). he played with worms and bugs and played in the mud. it was good, old fashioned fun.

| 1st offense: "mommy, i draw on wall!" he says, so proudly. you WHAT?! |
 |
| shiner. pushed his tractor off the deck step and followed it, head-first, into the concrete. poor o! |

| sweeping a (huge!) spider into the grass. gross. |
we had the opportunity to spend a little time with melissa and matt, too. we went to the carousel museum with them (along with matt's sister and her kids). it was fun! i couldn't believe how fast the carousel went around. the kids loved it!
here is oakley having fun at a park we used to go to when we lived here. it was nice to have a moment of kid fun in between all of the stress and decision-making.
poor oakley was a gem through all of this--house hunting and being drug here and there for two weeks. what a trooper! he's so excited to get into our new house. he was even talking to beanie tonight before bed and said, "beanie, you wanna go new house? we go new house soon." it was so sweet. i know we are all looking forward to some sort of normalcy and routine again.
