5 years!

so, it's been five years since brian and i tied the knot.  crazy how fast time has gone, but it feels like we've always been together.  every year, we take turns surprising each other with a go-all-out date.  we don't do these types of dates often.  actually, once a year is pretty much it. :)  so, this year was brian's year to plan.  i was so excited to be surprised!  he told me to wear a cocktail dress and to bring my "dancin' shoes."  this is a little funny, because, if you know me (and brian) we don't really dance.  well, we can try, but it usually consists of awkwardness.  so we usually try to avoid it at all cost.  sad, i know!  i was intrigued by his hints.

we left oakley with ellen and koa.  this was pretty traumatic.  poor guy doesn't do very well with his mommy and daddy leaving.  probably because of the move. he actually had a pretty good night and was happy to see us the next morning.

we headed to clearwater and checked in at the boardwalk to go on a dinner cruise.  it was so much fun!  it was something we both had never done.  it was a perfect night for this--the sunset was amazing and we even saw four dolphins behind the boat (unfortunately, we didn't have our camera out for this).  it was one of the best dates we have been on since we've been together.  i have my work cut out for me next year...i guess i'll start planning now!

on a different note, i wanted to post a couple cute things oakley has said over the past few days before i forget:

after i put on my swimsuit bottoms, then a pair of board shorts: "mommy's swim diaper?"
asking brian about something he was holding:  "what this is?"
after i asked him to put his pajamas on by himself (which he did the night before):  "mommy do it.  i do it next time."
brian, after a day of naughty behavior:  "oakley, are we going to have a better day tomorrow?" oakley, very matter-of-fact:  "no."  (pretty sure he lived up to it, too.)

i just love listening to the ways he is putting his words together.  we are really enjoying being able to have conversations with oakley lately!
