celebration weekend

around the middle of june, brian is usually treated like a king.  his birthday is june 17 and father's day usually falls a few days before or after.  and on these occasions, it is a tradition in our family to serve breakfast in bed.  so!  brian had breakfast served to him twice in one weekend.  now that's the life!
happy birthday!
oakley had so much fun purchasing gifts for brian.  i had fun, too, because he was so into it.  here is the conversation we had deciding what to get brian for his birthday:

me:  "oakley, what do you want to buy daddy for his birthday?"
oakley:  "mannie.  birdy.  happy birdy daddy!"  (maddie birthday.  happy birthday daddy!)
me:  "yes, maddie just had a birthday, too!  what would you like to get daddy?"
oakley:  "tape."
me:  "tape?  okay.  what kind of tape?"
oakley:  "back tape."  (black)
me:  "alright!  you can get daddy some black tape for his birthday.  he will love it!"
oakley:  "happy birdy daddy!"

so, we found some black electrical tape for oakley to give to brian.  he wrapped it in tissue paper with crinkled up tape all over it.  it was so cute!  he also helped me pick out some new "sim trucks" (swim trunks) for him and a new shirt.  brian opened his presents during breakfast (really, oakley opened them and ate most of brian's breakfast.  i remember eating all of my mom's breakfasts in bed when we were little, too!)

we had some good family time during the day, then went out for pizza with joey, ellen, and koa.  after dinner, we went back to the free concert/spray park.  the boys had a blast in the water and dancing to the music.  i think brian had a great day, too!
this is what we get when we tell o to smile
sunday was a special day, not only because we were celebrating daddies, but because koa was baptized.  brian and i felt lucky to be a part of the ceremony.  afterwards, we ate at the church luncheon, came home to take naps, then took oakley (and brian) out to have frozen yogurt.  oakley stayed in the nursery the whole service, so we rewarded him with a "teet" (treat).  he was pretty excited!

"daddy sop!"  (stop)  brian was tickling his knees
overall, we had a great time celebrating brian.  he's such a wonderful daddy and husband.  oakley and i are so blessed to have him!  happy birthday and father's day, brian!  we love you!
