for the love of water

oakley is crazy about water.  it is the first thing he talks about when he wakes up and the last thing he brings up before bed.  he is loving all of the options of water play in florida.  there really are a lot of semi-free things to do here relating to water, so we have been taking advantage of them!

we spent an afternoon at the beach as a family last week.  it was great fun.  oakley loved the "big" waves.  it was actually a very calm day, but they were big to him. :)  he wanted to play in the "tiny wata" (tiny water) a lot, too.  it was just a little hole where the water collected farther up in the sand from the actual ocean.  he played so hard digging and jumping in the waves that he passed out in his carseat before we left the parking lot.  he also said at dinner that night, "waves. whoa!  biiig waves!"  i think our first trip to the beach was successful!

friday night, we went to a free concert/spray park in a neighborhood where joey and ellen's friends live.  there were so many kids there.  oakley was really brave and ran around the spray area for a while.  poor little guy was freezing, but every time i held out the towel to bundle him, he would run up to me, say, "wata!" and run back into the water.  we finally had to cut him off when he turned blue and his teeth were chattering.  what can i say?  he's his mama's son.

water shooting up his shorts.  awesome.
officially freezing.

we also went to lithia springs, a natural spring close by.  it was a beautiful day and the spring was really refreshing.  i have always wanted to do this and we had a blast!

  1. He is so big! We went to beach this weekend too, and then to the lake this evening. We like living close to the water.
